Does mIDH Inhibitors is a Promising Therapy?
نویسنده
چکیده
IDH are family of enzymes that comprises three proteins, IDH1, IDH2 and IDH3. IDH1 is located in the cytoplasm while IDH2 and IDH3 are located in the mitochondria [1,2]. The IDHs are tricycle carboxylic acid cycle enzymes which convert isocitrate to α-KG via oxidative decarboxylation, producing NADPH (IDH1 and 2) and NADH (IDH3) [3]. IDH proteins are involved in diverse cellular processes including adaptation to hypoxia, histone demethylation and DNA modification [4]. Mutations have only been identified in IDH1 and IDH2 gene [3]. The mutated IDH1 and IDH2 proteins have a gain of function, neomorphic activity, catalyzing the reduction of α-KG to 2-HG [5]. The abnormal production of the oncometabolite 2-HG promote tumorigenesis [5]. IDH1/2 mutations define distinct subsets of cancers, including low-grade gliomas, secondary glioblastomas, chondrosarcomas, intrahepatic cholangiocarcinomas, and hematologic malignancies [6].

IDH mutation and MGMT promoter methylation in glioblastoma: results of a prospective registry.
BACKGROUND The relative contribution of isocitrate dehydrogenase mutations (mIDH) and O6-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase promoter methylation (methMGMT) as biomarkers in glioblastoma remain poorly understood. METHODS We investigated the association between methMGMT and mIDH with progression free survival and overall survival in a prospectively collected molecular registry of 274 glioblast...

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 has led to a widespread pandemic whose spread is astonishing, its treatment is uncertain, mortality is significant, and associated socioeconomic complications are uncontrollable. Although little is known about the pathogenesis of the disease, severe cases of COVID-19 are usually associated with cytokine release syndrome and high serum levels of in...
متن کاملPhotodynamic Therapy: A New Approach to Remove Embryos of the Wistar Rat
Background Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a promising new cancer treatment strategy which inactivates tumor cells by simultaneoulsy using light and a photosensitizer. The similarity between tumors and newly implanted embryos is notable. Extrauterine pregnancy (EUP) does not have a definite treatment and previous therapeutic options (medical and surgical) have not been effective or suitable. Ther...

Background: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) with their potential to differentiate into mesodermal and non-mesodermal lineages have several immunomodulatory characteris-tics. These properties make them promising tools in cell and gene therapy. Objective: To evaluate the potential therapeutic applications of autologous MSC in improving clinical manifestations of MS patients. Methods: Ten patients w...
